The hero is a jerk and doesn't do nearly enough to make up for that once he realizes how much he's hurt the heroine. He never treats her well. Even if he was fighting the mate bond, it takes a special level of jerkiness to flaunt a date with another woman in front of his mate after he's already had sex with his mate. And then to make his mate feel bad because she's upset about it? And to make her feel like what they had was nothing? Nope, sorry. That's irredeemable in my book. Bailey's Secret is an okay paranormal read.
Bailey is a human who was raised by wolves in a pack that is slowly being taken over by an illness. She's on the run from the alpha who is determined to make her a toy for the pack.
Daniel is a dire wolf. He is one of the goddess's warriors. He knows he is bound to find his mate, but he knows he could never take the chance to claim her. He knows Bailey is his mate, but he's determined to keep her away from him, but will his refusal mean Bailey's death?
I honestly didn't care for Daniel in this story. For him to be so hateful to his mate and say hateful things is just uncalled for. But then again, Bailey keeps taking him back so what does that say about her?

This story has some promise, however, the Hero was such a jerk. Instead of protecting his mate, he was constantly fighting the mate bond. Hurting her and leaving her in danger. What a jerk!! Hated the selfish, clueless hero. I thought that the heroine would have been better without him.
I absolutely loved this story. Daniel is such a jerk, I wanted to pound his head in. Despite her insecurities, Bailey had just enough independence and spirit to put that wolf in his place. I can't wait forward more about the Briary Creek wolves.
Bailey is on the run from a stalker wolf who won't take no for an answer and with delusions of grandeur. She ends up working for Courtney at the bakery in Bryant Station. She feels safe for a little while. Then she meets Daniel, a dire wolf in the service of the goddess. He doesn't want a mate, especially a human one because he's not sure she can be transformed. But, there are secrets no one knows but one person. Can this change things for Daniel and Bailey? You have to read the book to find out. Read it and you will not be disappointed.
This is really a three and a half stars story to me. I absolutely love this series, and I love the basis of this story but there were a few things that I just couldn't get past. For one, the way that everyone in the beginning refused to listen to what she wanted. They just pushed her to leave and have Daniel stay with her. Even in good intentions, they just forced her. I can't stand when someone does that much less a group. The second thing is how Daniel treated her. I would have just slapped him and walked away. I am all for some misunderstandings in a good romance and a big alpha who wants his way but there are some limits.
